Nutritional Therapy Consultations

1-2-1 CONSULTATIONS

What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional therapy focuses on the overall nutrient value of a client’s diet to ensure optimal well being and sustained health. The therapy also encompasses lifestyle and environmental factors that might contribute to or detract from ultimate well being. During this process a client is educated as to the benefits of dietary and lifestyle intervention, so that they can feel empowered to take charge of their own health following the necessary amount of consultations.

A common question asked is who might visit a Nutritional therapist? The answer is simple – anybody!, from those that want to simply improve their overall diet, to individual with more chronic health conditions.

What happens in a 1-2-1 Consultation?

An initial first time appointment will be assigned and will last between 60 to 90 minutes in length. During this time, a detailed health and case history will be taken from you to establish a sound idea of your health from a nutritional viewpoint.

As part of the consultation, Debbie will ask you about diet, lifestyle, sleep quality, bowel movements, general habits and behaviours. This information will help her understand where nutritional support can be provided and thus personalised to you.

Initial consultations of 60 minutes are structured by analysing a client’s case history and a pre-submitted 7 day food diary.  Once the aims and goals are established a realistic nutrition and lifestyle programme is deivised.  Specific testing (food and drink allergy check, homocysteine,IgG) or supplementation may be recommended to support the programme but the initial approach is on using good food and dietary recommendations.  Symptoms are not diagnosed or treated but an individualised program can work alongside convential medicine and potential interactions are always investigated and considered.

A follow-up appointment is scheduled within 4-6 weeks to analyse possible developments and make any necessary changes accordingly.  An email or Skype support service is available between appointments when any possible questions can be dealth with progressively.  Further appointments may be necessary, depending on individual cases.

Debbie also offers global on-line consultations providing personalised one-to-one nutritional support from the comfort and convenience of your own home.  This service is tailored to suit individuals who are unable to attend her clinic in person but still wish to avail of her experienced, professional service.
